One Country Statement on October 2022 Jobs Report

WASHINGTON, D.C.Today, One Country Project founder and former Senator Heidi Heitkamp issued the following statement after the release of the October jobs report:

“Today’s jobs report shows the continued resilience of the labor market. The addition of 261,000 jobs in October is a welcome sign that, for almost two years, the policies enacted by the Biden administration and Democrats in Congress have continued to bolster the economy after pandemic losses. Of the 10 million jobs added to the economy since President Biden took office, 700,000 have been in manufacturing – assisted by legislation such as the CHIPS and Science Act that keeps the U.S. competitive and brings good-paying jobs to rural Americans.

“The jobs gains were slightly lower compared to September, showing that the Fed’s efforts are beginning to cool the economy with the help of the Inflation Reduction Act, which will also provide some relief for American families by bringing down prices for prescription drugs and energy costs. With the midterm elections approaching and economic concerns at the top of mind, it is vital to look at the numbers and see who is really standing up for the American people – those are the leaders we need to re-elect.”
