One Country Statement on March 2024 Jobs Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, One Country Project issued the following statement after the release of the March jobs report:

“With an addition of 303,000 jobs in March, the U.S. economy continues to exceed expectations for its strength and resilience. The Biden administration has overseen consistent job growth in its 39 months of navigating the post-pandemic landscape – helping to open opportunities for Americans’ security and well-being.

“Now that Congress has passed 2024 funding bills, it’s time for lawmakers to turn their attention to other critical programs necessary for families’ financial success. The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) will run out of funding at the end of the month. The ACP helps 23 million households across the nation access the internet. Continued funding for the program is critical to maintain rural Americans’ ability to use the internet to seek employment, small business growth, education, and health care.

“Election years are often believed to be relatively inactive for Congress, but after last year’s lack of movement, it’s more important than ever to create solutions for the enduring challenges rural Americans face. Congress must come together to pass an updated Farm Bill, expand the child tax credit, and follow states’ lead and institute a paid family leave program to continue building a workforce that meets the demands of a growing economy and provide stability for new families.”
